The health visiting service is staffed by registered nurses who have further specialist training particularly relating to expectant mothers, pre school and school age children. Services include developmental assessments, child health clinics, counselling and health education. The health visitors are based at Briarwood Sector Base, Whitmore Road, Blaydon.
Health Visitors work in and with local communities to promote health and prevent illness. The primary focus of their work is with families with young children. As registered nurses with a further registration in public health, health visitors undertake development assessments, screening clinics, counselling and health education sessions.

Community Nursery Nurses
The community nursery nurses covering our practice are:

They work with the health visitor team and are based at Briarwood Sector Base, Whitmore Road, Blaydon. They work in all aspects of Child Health, Health Promotion and Health Education and also provide infant massage.
District Nurses
The district nurse that is attached to the practice and is responsible for nursing in the community is:

The health visitors and district nurses take referrals from the doctors and the hospital but will also attend at the request of a patient.
